What does a typical house call appointment look like?
A typical vet visit lasts 25-30 minutes. You will have ample time for your critter to get used to the vet before the exam even starts. Often your pet will not even know it is the vet, just a house guest there to see them that gives out treats!
What is the cost for an at home visit?
Out vet association rules prevent us from publicly publishing prices on our website. If you sign up for our Care Kit we can email you a complete list. We strongly believe in providing all options for vet care and will work together to do what is best for you and your furry family member.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa/Mastercard, debit, and Apple Pay. The vet will have a portable machine with them. We do accept cash but will be unable to give out any change as our vets do not carry any.
Do you treat exotics?
Currently, we are only seeing dogs and cats for at home visits. The exception is for home euthanasia, where we can also help your rabbit or pocket pets have a peaceful passing.
What kind of services do you provide in home?
We are able to provide about 80 percent of the services you can get at a regular clinic. Exams, vaccines, bloodwork, nutritional consults, allergy testing and consults, small lump removal, home euthanasia, quality of life and hospice care. We are not able to perform X rays or surgery that involves general anesthetic.
Are you available for emergencies?
We are not open 24 hours, if you have a pet emergency please call or go to Trinity Hills Pet Hospital 403-233-2888 or Western Vet Specialists 403-770-1340.
What areas do you currently offer services to?
We currently provide service to Airdrie, Cochrane, NW Calgary, NE Calgary, and Central South Calgary. (We are not able to at this time provide service to the Deep South Calgary)
What is your opinion on raw food?
We have seen many critters do very well on raw diets and fully support this option. We find pet parents do a lot of research and are well prepared to do raw food right.
Do you offer Titer testing and alternative vaccine schedules?
We do not believe in over vaccinating and stay up to date on new research on vaccines and protocols. We do offer titer testing as an alternative for vaccinating.
Do you do home euthanasia?
Home euthanasia is one of the main reasons we feel so passionately about house calls. One of our core missions is that every pet deserves the option of a peaceful passing at home, surrounded by their loving family where they are most comfortable. We often get asked if euthanasia is the worst part of our job and it truly is not. It is an honor to be able to be there and help both pet and pet parent through this extremely difficult time with utmost care and compassion.
